This wooden cruciform church was designed by Carlo Bassi in 1814 and built in 1816–1817. Later alterations added Gothic, neo-Renaissance and Finnish carpenter-style features to the originally neoclassical building. Juho Forsell painted the Transfiguration altarpiece in 1881, and Kalle Carlstedt completed the ceiling paintings in 1935.
There are 764 seats, including 54 in the organ gallery. The 27-stop organ was built by the Kangasala organ factory in 1982. Services and concerts take place here, with bookings handled by the parish office. Facilities include a wheelchair lift, hearing loop, accessible toilet and accessible parking.
