Designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, the main part of the Lutheran church was built in 1836 and consecrated in 1841. The first church on the site was built by Antti Hakola in 1749. Galleries were added during the major renovation of 1896. The interior was restored in 1996, the exterior painted in 1997 and the shingle roof renewed in 2005.
The church accommodates about 800 people. Its 28-stop organ by Sotkamon Urkurakentamo was consecrated in 2012. Step-free access, an accessible toilet, a hearing loop and parking are available.
