This language-focused general upper secondary school, known as Jylla, puts a strong emphasis on internationalism and the Baltic Sea in everyday school life. Students can take language diplomas, and there are international and travel projects. A flexible study path lets each student build a route that suits them, and students are noted for good results in the Finnish matriculation examination. Support for studies and guidance is available. There is also a music emphasis, an active choir tradition and a student magazine called Esposti.
The school was founded in 1923 in Helsinki as a private lyceum by Hilma and Yrjö Jahnsson and moved to Espoonlahti in 1974. It has been city-owned since 1977 and marked its 100th anniversary in spring 2023. The Lippulaiva shopping centre and a sports park are next door, a few minutes' walk from metro and bus stops. Cars must use the parking area reserved for students, not the school yard. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
