The student-maintained floating barrel sauna sits by Laajalahti bay on the Aalto University campus. It holds around ten people and floats on pontoons made from decommissioned wind turbine blades. Heating is by a Narvi NC 16 wood stove, with some electricity supplied by solar panels. A large window faces the bay.
Groups can book it for self-service use, with firewood included. Bring fresh water for steam; seawater must not be used. Users leave the space clean. There is no separate changing room or nearby toilet. Wheelchair users can reach the pier with assistance; the walkway is 140 centimetres wide with a 20-centimetre threshold.
