The rock cascade at the start of the Gumbölenjoki river is estimated to be six metres high and about 15 metres long. Water comes from an artificial lake built in 1951, fed from the Nuuksio lakes via Pitkäjärvi. Originally created for electricity production, the reservoir later supplied raw water, with a treatment plant operating on the site from 1967 to 2016.
Some water is diverted through the fish ladder. Natural woodland and maintained parkland surround the falls, with a park opposite the lower pool. The nearest gravel car park is private: visitors are advised to park north of the gate and walk about 200 metres.
