Founded in 1945, the professional art music composers' association promotes creative music and protects composers' artistic, professional and economic interests. It publishes the member magazine Kompositio and participates in international cooperation through bodies including ECSA and ISCM.
Members receive training, advice and information on freelance work, copyright, pensions and taxation. The association administers Sibelius Fund grants and Pegasos grants for lyrics and librettos. It also runs applications for the Villa Vikani residency.
