Earthworks, moats and a few cellar pits remain at this medieval timber castle site. Mainly active in the 14th century, possibly from the late 13th century, it probably served as a camp fortress for troops and supported Swedish administration and taxation. Its builder is uncertain, though Albrecht of Mecklenburg is considered likely.
Queen Margareta ordered its destruction at the end of the 14th century. The site can be explored independently throughout the year, and guided tours are also arranged.
