The bakery is part of the soldiers' home activities run for conscripts by Hämeenlinnan Sotilaskotiyhdistys ry. These activities date back to 1918, with paid staff working alongside volunteer soldiers' home sisters.
Soldiers' Home 1 is inside a restricted area. Soldiers' Home 2, outside the gates, also welcomes visiting guests. The association provides café and kiosk services as well as services in the field.
