Founded in 1986, the triathlon club has around 50 active members, including both competitors and recreational athletes. It organises swimming, cycling and running sessions, plus combined bike-run training. It has hosted Kumpeli Triathlon races and held the first official Finnish Olympic-distance championships in 1989.
Beginners and people wanting to try the sport are welcome. Swimming moves from the indoor pool in autumn to spring to open water in summer. Running uses the Vierumäki bubble hall in colder seasons and the sports field in warmer months, while cycling includes time trials and group rides. Activities can be followed on Facebook and Instagram.
Share your experience of the group training in the comments to help others considering triathlon.
