This professional theatre company was founded in 1997 and specialises in visual theatre and in researching and developing different forms of sensory theatre. The company has 24 freelance members: actors, directors, lighting, costume and set designers, writers, producers and technicians. Two staff members are permanent, the artistic director and the producer. It stages two to three of its own premieres a year, with performances for all ages, including children's theatre, horror theatre and classics. The city supports the theatre.
Its stage, Tuikenäyttämö, is in Malmi. Gift cards for performances are available, and an ongoing open call invites guest works, events and workshops for the programme. The theatre has declared itself a discrimination-free zone and displays the Syrjinnästä vapaa alue sign on its premises. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
