This non-profit public benefit foundation was founded in 1926, and its Hietaniemi crematorium was the first in Finland. It runs the Hietaniemi crematorium chapels, which are open to all religious denominations and to non-religious people. The facilities include a large chapel, a small chapel and a columbarium, and funeral services and urn handover are offered. Cremation is the most common burial method, accounting for over 80% of burials.
Staff have training suited to their duties. Enquiries to the office can be sent through a contact form, and the website also has a list of frequently asked questions and information for funeral contractors.
