This City of Helsinki comprehensive school lets pupils stay from grade 1 right through to grade 9. It is spread over three buildings: grades 1–2 study in Kanava, grades 3–4 in Auringonpilkku and grades 5–9 in the main Aurinkokoulu building. Pupils can start English, French or Swedish in grade 1, and from grade 7 there is an emphasis on technology education.
Applications for the emphasis are made in Wilma in January, and admission is based on an entrance test held in Finnish. Lunch offers two main options daily, including vegetarian food. The entrance and small car park are wheelchair accessible, but coming by public transport or on foot is recommended.
