Operating since 1991, this art school offers painting and visual arts courses for adults, children and young people. It was founded as Alfa-Art taidekoulu by three painters and educators. It runs a part-time three-year course training painters and visual artists, on site or hybrid, and a one-year Master Class with individual study plans. Weekly open studio groups paint in oil or acrylic, from figurative to abstract.
Courses include the Old Masters glazing technique, Art Nouveau painting, experimental monotype printmaking and mindfulness-based creative workshops. In summer there are painting courses and art camps for children aged 7 to 12. The school is in the main building of Tuomarinkylä manor, and the studios are open to people of all ages with no prior art training required. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
