Founded in 1987, the scientific association conducts multidisciplinary youth research in Finland and internationally. Its research network began operating in 1999, with studies including the Youth Barometer and a children's and young people's leisure survey.
The association publishes books, reports and a peer-reviewed journal and organises seminars and an annual youth research conference. Membership is open to anyone interested in youth research. It also hosts a research ethics committee for studies involving children and young people.
