This is a research unit of the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (Etla). It is funded entirely by external project funding rather than Etla's core funding. A team of about ten researchers does mainly empirical company and industry research, with company renewal as its main focus: globalisation, global value chains and innovation. It also follows emerging phenomena and changes in the world economy and their effects.
Research topics include geopolitics, industrial policy, company acquisitions and restructuring. Projects have covered Nordic value chains, biotechnology, business capital and the food industry. Results are published as research reports and working papers. The office is located in the premises of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
