This national museum of Finnish railway heritage presents railway history from the 1860s to the present day. The permanent exhibitions are spread across several buildings: Todellinen aikamatka, the engine shed, the station and the barracks. The 19th-century station and depot area also shows rolling stock. Themed events such as the Taikametsä evenings are held in the museum park, and the museum holds the Sustainable Travel Finland label.
There is a museum shop and a café on site. The Museum Card is accepted. Group visits and filming enquiries go through the visitor services team. The collections and library database are on the Finna service, and shop products can be bought online. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
