Founded in 1974, the yacht club is based in a historic villa on Haukiniemi. The club acquired the building in 2003 and restored it between 2003 and 2009, with new land and visitor jetties completed in 2009. Its roughly 90–100 members are divided about equally between motorboaters and sailors.
Members of yacht clubs in the Saimaa area can use the base and jetties. The club organises skipper courses at the civic institute and an annual sailing race. New members are welcome, with junior and adult membership categories. The building entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
