Designed by Thure G. Wennberg and built by Salomon Köhlström, the wooden cruciform church was consecrated in 1801. Built under a permit from Gustav III, it is the third church on the site. Seating over a thousand, it gained a light tower in a renovation designed by G. T. Chiewitz; the present bell tower dates from 1861. Central heating was installed in the early 1930s.
It hosts worship, weddings, funerals and concerts. Toilets, a bridal room and a children's playroom were added at the rear in the 1980s. There is a hearing loop, step-free access, accessible parking and an accessible toilet.
