The association organising the music festival was registered in 1977 following an initiative by conductor Lasse Lintala and the Viihdekuoro Marien ja Mikkojen choir. Its programme includes opera and sacred, classical and lighter concerts. Its history includes original productions such as Jaakko Ilkka and Jokiooppera, and performers early in their careers have included Karita Mattila.
Performances take place in the Kyrönjoki riverside landscape and local halls, churches and gardens. Bus transfers from Seinäjoki bus station take around 20 minutes. The association office has an accessible entrance and car park.
