The municipal market square is a meeting place in both summer and winter. In summer the municipality organises programmed market days, announced in advance. Trading is allowed on the square itself, behind the bus station and in the parking area between Keskuspuisto and Kalevalantie. Free flea market trading is permitted, and unused stalls may be released to flea market sellers after 9:00.
Stalls can be rented by the day, week, month, half-year or year, and a vendor trading year-round can be assigned a fixed place. Reservations go through the municipality's technical department, and a market supervisor enforces the rules and collects the stall fees. Buses and lorries may not enter the square, so delivery vehicles must trade from the designated parking areas. Buying berries and mushrooms is also regulated as market trade and is charged. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
