This second-hand shop is part of the work of the local branch of Save the Children Finland in the Ruokolahti and Rautjärvi areas and nearby. The association supports children, young people and low-income families with children locally. It supports hobbies for under-18s and young people's schooling, means-tested and depending on available funds. Its main income comes from the shop, which accepts donations.
The association also runs swimming schools and cooperation projects and has a volunteer network. It does not do social work: professional child-welfare matters are referred to the regional office for Eastern Finland. It belongs to the national child rights organisation, which is politically non-aligned. The shop is in the Mansikkapaikka shopping centre, and the car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
