The museum's collection was assembled by veteran Reino Ikävalkko and Eila Ikävalkko, and the museum still serves as their home. On show are maps, weapons and uniforms from the Finnish, German and Soviet armies, covering the Finnish autonomy era, the Civil War, and the Winter War and Continuation War. The exhibits include the uniforms of a Finnish UN general and a Soviet general.
The fresco room has a 1941 bomb fragment in a fresco depicting the Piponius family. The courtyard has an IT gun from the Ladoga defenders and a field gun from 1915. The museum is in the neoclassical Piponius house, built in 1925, at Inkerinaukio near Imatrankoski, opposite the Valtionhotelli, and the toilet is wheelchair accessible.
