The ice hall was built in 1994 on the bank of the Jämsänjoki river in Paunu sports park. It is the home arena of the ice hockey club Jämsänkosken Ilves and several recreational teams, and has hosted international ice hockey and floorball tournaments, figure skating shows and trade fairs. Seating capacity is 920, and up to 2,500 people can attend trade fair events. A flexible rink was acquired in summer 2024.
Kindergarten and school groups and sports coaching students of the Gradia vocational college also use the hall. Weekly public skating and stick sessions are free, and a helmet is required for stick sessions. Ice time, rink space and the meeting room in the café can be booked by email. The rink is managed by Jämsänjokilaakson jäähalli Oy and follows safer space principles. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
