The former military official's farm housed officers from 1695 to 1810, then became a state-leased farm until 1927. The state sold its land in 1928, and it later passed to the Salovuori and Oja families. Helena Oja bequeathed it to the city for culture and fine arts.
The bequest requires the buildings to be maintained and the fields and forests to remain in their established use. The main building was renovated in the 1980s and 1990s, and Pekka Oja planted a tree species park on the grounds.
