The art museum is run by the city's museum services, alongside the artist homes Ahola, Suviranta and Villa Kokkonen. It holds Finland's largest collections of works by Eero Järnefelt and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt. The permanent collection exhibition is titled Eero & Venny, and temporary exhibitions rotate.
Admission is free for visitors aged 18 to 25 at the city's museum sites, and entry is free on the first Friday of every month at the art museum and Ahola. The council has decided to advance a new museum building project, using existing premises where possible. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
