Run by a local heritage association, the open-air museum displays objects reflecting both eastern and western Finnish traditions. Its farmhouse came from Marjotaipale village, and the oldest living room is over 200 years old. Buildings have been moved to the roughly 1.5-hectare site since 1964, including two granaries, a threshing barn, stables, a smoke sauna and an 1842 windmill. One granary may date from 1711.
Annual events take place here, including part of the Joutopäivät festival. The museum grounds can also be rented for events.
