The craft centre is a branch of Taito Keski-Suomi, an association founded in 1913. The association organises craft courses, basic arts education in crafts, craft guidance, workplace wellbeing workshops, rehabilitative work activities and vocational training.
It occupies Jukola, built in 1940 as a Civil Guard building. Earlier uses included a cinema and a library, and the association took over the building in 2005. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
