The early-19th-century museum cottage is the only surviving building of the old parish manse. It is associated with folk poetry collector Kaarle Akseli Gottlund (1796–1875), who is said to have gathered poems and traditions here in 1815–1816. A memorial stone to local rune singers was erected in 1985, and the grounds were once the manse garden.
The municipally run site opens during set periods in summer and hosts poetry recitals and singalongs. After midsummer, a meadow path displays poems and texts from earlier poetry competitions.
