The shop sells Finnish fish and has market-stall roots dating back to 1929. Its products include fish patties made from pike and salmon, fried on Wednesdays, and hand-sliced cured gravlax-style fish such as salmon, rainbow trout and whitefish. Herring specialties from its own kitchen come in several varieties, including sherry and mustard herring, and a herring-based cake (sillileivos) is sold, also as a whole cake for parties.
The shop takes catering and party-platter orders for companies and event caterers. It has been run by the third generation of the Mäkinen family since 2009. There is a market-hall stall open year-round, as well as the shop itself.
