The Luja shaft element is a prefabricated concrete service shaft installed during the structural frame stage of a building. It can include ventilation ducts, drains, water pipes, heating and cooling pipes, and electrical and data cable risers. Electrical boxes and conduits can be fitted in the element, and openings can be made for water and sprinkler pipes.
The element works with both precast and cast-in-place structures. Its dimensions are standardised with other element shaft suppliers, so it fits any project designed for element shafts. The compact size leaves more floor area in an apartment building than a cast-in-place riser. The company is part of Lujabetoni, a third-generation Finnish family business operating in Finland and Sweden.
