The vocational qualification in construction leads to the title of building constructor (talonrakentaja). Studies cover foundation, concrete and reinforcement work, framing, roofing, facade and interior work, masonry, tiling, and the installation of furniture, doors and windows. The scope is 180 competence points, usually 2 to 3 years, with a personal competence development plan (HOKS).
Practical training takes place in the school's training hall and at real construction sites, under a training agreement or an apprenticeship. Teaching is by contact lessons, mixed-mode or apprenticeship at two campuses, one of them in Kuusamo, and applicants need basic Finnish (B1.1). Graduates can work for construction companies, the building material and element industries, the state and municipalities, or as self-employed. The premises are in Kainuun ammattiopisto, and the car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
