Pekka Kauhanen's sculpture from 1990 commemorates President Urho Kekkonen and won an open design competition. According to the website, it was the first nationwide presidential monument erected outside the capital. Kekkonen felt a close connection to Kainuu, where he attended school and had his first summer jobs.
The sculpture stands in Urho Kekkonen park. Visitors have wheelchair access at the entrance and in the parking area.
