This family-owned high-fire stoneware pottery was founded in 1972 by Kari and Irma Iso-Pahkala. The workshop makes functional ceramics, gift items, decorative products and one-of-a-kind art pieces. Production moved from low-fire red clay to high-fire stoneware, using clay, kaolin and minerals that are partly imported. It is known for the Majakka (lighthouse) lamp and mug series and for the Savimaa and Nuppu series. The third generation is now involved, and the pottery has a reduction gas kiln and makes tableware for restaurants. It has received project funding for internationalisation.
The workshop and shop stand by Highway 8, near the Hiekkasärkät dunes on the Gulf of Bothnia coast. The shop sells the full product range, and Kahvila Seili operates in summer. Companies can order corporate and business gifts and one-of-a-kind products. The website is available in Finnish, English, Swedish and German. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
