The association was founded in 1959 and is one of the oldest local branches of Eläkeläiset ry, the national pensioners' organisation. It covers the neighbouring municipality of Keminmaa as well. A club meets on Thursdays for singing together, bingo and games, handicrafts, lectures and computer guidance.
Members also get recreation activities, trips and training, and occasional events on current topics are held, with other organisations' halls hired when needed. The association lobbies on decisions affecting pensioners through statements to decision-makers and the public. Membership fees can be paid by e-invoice. The premises have accessible seating, an accessible toilet and accessible parking.
