Founded in 1945, the local history museum occupies a parish granary completed in 1921 beside the church. The protected building holds over 2,000 objects spanning the Stone Age to the present, mainly from Pirkanmaa and Satakunta. Hunting, fishing and wilderness pursuits are central themes; unusual objects include an armadillo hide and a blowfish.
Run by the municipal education and culture department, the collection was largely assembled by merchant Tarmo Markkula during his machinery sales travels from the 1930s. The yard contains the Sampo monument, unveiled in 1985, and the 1958 statue of Jaakko Juhana Roth, designed by Markkula.
