Run by the local heritage association, the museum's main building is a former sergeant's dwelling built in 1827. It was moved from Evitskog to Lappböle and opened as a museum in 1956. A granary arrived from Bak-Tuomola in 1962, followed in 2016 by the century-old Tina cottage from Masaby as a caretaker's home.
Buildings are reached by 2–3 outdoor steps and have indoor thresholds. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible. There is no accessible seating, accessible toilet or hearing loop, although accessible parking is provided.
