Founded by Juha Kangas in 1972, the chamber orchestra plays repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music. It has premiered more than 200 works, many of them commissions. A long collaboration with Pehr Henrik Nordgren and ties with Nordic and Baltic composers inform its programme. It received the Nordic Council Music Prize in 1993.
Concerts are available live, streamed and on record. Its nearly 90 recordings include releases recognised with several music awards. The Klangi friends association supports its work, and performances take place in Finland and abroad.
