The centre is the venue of the Biathlon World Cup. The event is organised by the sports club Kontiolahden Urheilijat, whose sports also include cross-country skiing, shooting, orienteering and sled dog sports. The area also hosts events such as sled dog skiing championships and training camps, and the World Cup holds an Eco Compass environmental certificate.
Visitors can choose VIP tickets, hospitality and business guest packages, or the public event square, which is open without a ticket. Tickets bought online are exchanged for wristbands at the main gate. Free shuttle buses run to the event from Joensuu city centre, the village and Lehmo. According to its website, the venue also offers camp, meeting and corporate event services and equipment rental. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
