The upper secondary school has about 60 students and 15 staff. Studies follow either the general line or the music line, which accepts applicants without a musical background. The music line offers nearly 20 courses, including music technology and band playing, and lessons are held in a dedicated music wing with a general classroom and a band classroom. School bands perform at various events, and the graduation-style wanhojen tanssit are held at Kuhmo-talo with a live orchestra.
Students can take safety studies, dance courses and outdoor (erä) courses. Optional courses can also be taken outside school hours, for example supervised sports or Sotkamo adult education courses held locally. The website has an online application guide, the Wilma system and school lunch menus. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
