This cinema is run by the city together with Kino Manttu in Nilsiä and has shown films since the 1930s. About 75% of the films shown are high-quality European productions, and it is part of the Europa Cinemas network. Its website calls it a nostalgic art house cinema for film lovers of all ages. The programme includes film clubs, film festivals, National Audiovisual Institute archive series and school screenings.
The venue is alcohol-free and has a Christie 4K projector and 35mm film projectors. It can be rented for events, excluding commercial film screenings. The LIIKKIS wristband gives children and young people free entry to the cinema and some city sports facilities. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
