This is a violence-prevention work method run by Setlementti Puijola, aimed at reducing or ending violent behaviour. The work is one-to-one and based on the client's own motivation to change. It targets adults aged 18 to 49 who have committed violence outside the home. It also works with people at risk of school or mass violence, members of extremist movements and people leaving gang life.
Participation is voluntary, and the approach stresses trust, impartiality, respect and a non-judgemental attitude. Clients are mainly referred by prisons, probation offices, the police and NGOs, and some come through word of mouth. The work is funded by STEA and is part of Setlementti Puijola, which offers other social services too.
