This municipal visual arts school provides basic arts education for children, young people and adults. Its fortress building was constructed in 1884 as a prison sauna and laundry and has housed the school since the early 2000s. Children's and youth studies emphasise architecture and environmental education.
Teaching progresses from early years classes for ages 3–6 to basic studies for 7–14-year-olds and advanced studies for ages 14–20. Adults begin with basic studies and proceed to advanced work involving independent projects. The school also runs national Art Testers and local Cultural Path workshops, exhibitions and snow sculpture activities.
