The art museum began exhibiting in 2006, following Pauli Laurila's art donation in 1998. Its building in a culture centre was designed in the 1920s as a cartridge loading plant and later used for hardening and surface treatment. Juha Leiviskä led the museum conversion, making light a central element.
Exhibitions change three times a year, presenting local, Finnish and international art alongside collection displays. The paved courtyard can host outdoor exhibitions and events. Guided tours can be booked. Accessible parking and a wheelchair-accessible toilet are available.
