The Empire-style church was designed by architect C. L. Engel and completed in 1835. It seats 800 people. The altarpiece, painted by court painter R. W. Ekman, shows Christ at the Transfiguration and was conserved in 2013. The organ was built by the Kangasala organ factory and completed in 1963; it has 36 stops, 11 of them from the earlier Thulé organ of 1881. The basement houses a church museum, opened in 1997 and renewed in 2019.
Services are held on Sundays and other holy days. The church is closed in winter, when services move to the parish hall; otherwise it is open by arrangement with the sextons. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible, and there is an induction loop.
