Near Kuokkalankoski rapids, the museum area's first museums opened in 1981. Its seven museums include a former village shop with stock mainly from 1930–1950 and a forge built in 1910. According to the website, it also has Finland's only hairdresser and barber museum.
Visits are by guided tour, lasting about an hour. Larger groups are advised to book ahead, and the neighbouring Sakkola Museum can be combined with a tour. A war veterans' heritage room displays objects related to Finland's wars. The municipality and local heritage association jointly run the site.
