Designed by Georg Theodor Chiewitz, the neo-Gothic red-brick church was built in 1854–1858. Berndt Godenhjelm's 1842 altarpiece Christ on the Cross came from the previous church. Interior murals were painted by Emil Ruokolainen in 1929. The 16-stop mechanical Zachariassen organ dates from 1879 and was restored in 2013.
There is a children's altar and a church museum. The parish office handles bookings for weddings, baptisms, funerals and concerts. Facilities include a hearing loop and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking and toilet.
