This rental housing company is wholly owned by the city and owns and manages about 2,000 rental apartments. It runs on a cost-based principle and does not aim for profit; rental income goes into maintenance, repairs and development of apartments and properties. It was founded in 1991 when the rental housing companies of the town centre were merged. Most of the stock was built in the 1970s to 1990s, mostly financed with state-supported loans.
Residents are served by 12 housing, customer service and property professionals. Tenant selection follows current legislation, the rules for state-supported housing and city guidelines. Property-specific residents' committees organise yard work days, events and shared activities. Services include property management, maintenance and building supervision, and the website gives guidance in Finnish, Swedish and English on keys, tenancy, rent payment and moving out.
