This safety training centre trains seafarers, marine professionals, industry workers and people on the water. It offers STCW maritime safety training and GWO training for the wind power sector, as well as industry-specific, tailored and occupational safety courses. There are also courses for recreational boaters and sailors. Training follows the IMO STCW standard.
The state educational institution operates under the guidance of the Finnish National Agency for Education and is certified to ISO 9001:2015. Training takes place in Upinniemi in Kirkkonummi, at a second site and at customers' own workplaces, using authentic firefighting, survival and evacuation equipment. According to its website, it is the only provider of HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) in Finland, and it trains helicopter crews from neighbouring countries too. The car park and entrance are wheelchair accessible.
