This is Finland's national agriculture museum, opened in summer 2005 and named Museum of the Year in May 2021. It covers the history of the countryside, farming and food through three permanent exhibitions and changing ones, with an outdoor area, a café and a museum shop. It leads Museoraitti, a network of 51 agriculture-themed museums, and runs the DigiSarka online portal with blog articles, virtual exhibitions and educational material.
A weekday lunch is served in the main building during set hours, with allergen codes on the menu. Themed guided tours must be booked in advance, and meeting and event rooms can be hired. The museum is run by the Finnish Agricultural Museum Foundation, supported mainly by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the local city. The car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
