The nature reserve has three ring hiking routes starting from the parking area. The shortest of the Samo routes is a demanding 1 km accessible route with a gravel surface and a rest area by Luutalampi. Pikku-Samo is a family-friendly 3.5 km loop with information boards and benches, and Luutaharjun Samo is a 6.5 km loop with ridges, a pond, bogs and a burned forest area. The area ranked third in the Retkipaikka 2023 vote for the year's top hiking place.
Overnight stays are allowed at the Komionlampi camping area, about 700 m from the Samo route. The parking area has accessible spaces and an accessible toilet, but some routes have steep slopes, and the accessible route may need an assistant or suitable equipment. Mobility aids can be rented through SOLIA and Malike. In winter the forest road is closed and the hiking routes are not maintained, but ski trails run through the area.
